In December 2023, we were tasked with steel supply for the Monash Solar Car Park. The project required the coordination of coring holes and steel fabrication, with a primary goal of delivering 100 tonnes of purlin construction steel to the fourth level of the car park before the holiday break.

As we’ve said before, Kelly Steel is more than willing to tackle any project, big or small. A recent project was certainly not large, although the impact is big for patrons at a Melbourne establishment. The television screen stand and cover, designed and fabricated by Kelly Steel, provides excellent protection from the elements and allows patrons a prime view of whatever is being screened. Whether it’s tennis, football or the next episode of a favourite reality TV series!

Then there are those projects that are completely customised and different. Like a recent project to create a crane lifting platform. It was designed and fabricated by Kelly Steel to provide a specialised solution around communication and marine environments. Kelly Steel has designed and fabricated sewer manhole shaft inlets for a major project. The sewer manhole shaft inlets are vertical pipes that connect sewer pipes laid underground to the surface. These shafts play an important role in allowing access to the sewer for maintenance and other work. You’d be surprised how many sewer pipes and associated equipment is under your feet. In the Greater Melbourne area alone, there is a network of over 3,000 kilometres of pipes and pumps, used to safely transfer sewage from homes and businesses to treatment plants.

One of Kelly Steel’s first big infrastructure projects was to design, fabricate and install steelwork for the telecommunications industry. Our relationship with the industry has continued to blossom since then. Recently, we designed and fabricated several steel mount assemblies for the telecommunications industry. These towers form an important part of our ever increasing need for fast, secure, reliable, innovative and dependable communications.

Not all our projects would be considered grand, but some certainly are! Kelly Steel was recently contracted to design, fabricate and install a grandstand for a sporting field. The spectator stand, made from steel of course, was completed for a Melbourne metropolitan council. We’re sure the crowds that flock to the ground will enjoy the new grandstand, as much as we enjoyed fabricating it.
